History
During the summer of 1998, a group of Gilmanton citizens began meeting to discuss their concern that Gilmanton was one of only two New Hampshire communities without a year-round library. Working with a consultant from the New Hampshire State Library, in March of 1999 the group conducted a community survey and discovered that 94% of the 300 survey respondents (of 1800 registered voters) not only considered year-round library service important to the well-being of a community but 60 cared enough to volunteer to become involved!
