History
During the summer of 1998, a group of Gilmanton citizens began meeting to discuss their concern that Gilmanton was one of only two New Hampshire communities without a year-round library.
In March of 1999 the group, working with a consultant from the New Hampshire State Library, conducted a community survey. They discovered that not only did 94% of the 300 survey respondents (of 1800 registered voters) consider year-round library service important to the well-being of a community, 60 cared enough to volunteer to become involved!
